Thoughts On Episode 6 And Fidelity

Hello, Team,

Did dinner and Westworld with friends for the first time. Got a lot of talking and ideas from this episode.

The hosts aren’t being infected, obviously, but they are getting a new perspective when they talk to an outlier. The hosts must live in a non-westworld setting, where they live amongst all hosts and not humans. So a homogeneous society. When they hunt the outliers in the park and talk to them, they are hearing a new perspective from someone who is not like the host. In a sense, expanding their mind.

The humans are NPCs with written stories and a trapped in that situation. They cannot organically create connections with others. NPCs are very two-dimensional and can’t break out. They are isolated to only those they are assigned to. Christina only writes stories with small family bubbles. Humans lack connection with others.

Charlotte doesn’t create relationships with others, she only controls and doesn’t give a fuck about them. She chooses to isolate herself because she is too emotionally scarred to make connections. Since the hosts are created in her image, they probably don’t have a lot of friends or family. That’s very isolating.

I feel that Clementine might come into play later because at the beginning of the season she was assimilating to the human world and was happy. She was making connections to those around her, she was a part of a community. She fought the MIB and returned to Hale all zombified. The MIB host is now seeking out his real self, trying to make a connection.

Perhaps, Hope the host killed a bunch of humans as a form of mercy. Once she talks to the host she realizes they are being controlled and trapped while being cognizant of what is happening. This opens her mind to realize how fucked up the park is and how tortured the people are inside. She feels *hope*less that she can’t free everybody and can’t live with the thought that the entire human population is enslaved.

All rambling, just putting it out there. Thanks for the great podcast!
