Thoughts On The Start Of The Park

Hi fellow Westies

So I decided to rewatch episode 2. Something was bugging me from first viewing. Ok so The Argos Initiative are basically doing a sales pitch to Delos. To do this they ship over a bunch of Hosts including Angela to conduct a turing style test on Logan. This is clearly a blinding success. They are so human like Logan still struggles to believe it even when they are frozen.

Sooooo this took me back to season 1. Ford is sat with the host obsessed with the “Lady in the red shoes”. He explains to Bernard (I think) that the early Hosts were a bit naff. “A simple handshake would give them away”. Now without being crude Logan definitely got more than a handshake. We know Dolores was the original Host. Why do these sale pitch Hosts look so amazing??

Theory – the Argos Initiative purchased the park and stock from the original Westworld owners after a malfunction which lead to a major lawsuit and bankruptcy. This park had androids, basically think Disneyland meets Japanese sex bots. The malfunction/accident may have been the original movie plot (retconned for the show). This would also add to the Gunslinger Easter egg in season 1.

I also happened upon the Westworld website where you can take a survey. A character survey I guess. One of the questions was very very interesting. I’m paraphrasing here but it asks “if you died in a car accident and immediately before that you had your body and brain including memories and experiences mapped, would that person be you?” I believe this shows it’s not conciousness transfer, it’s replication. Although to the newly awakened Host I would imagine they feel like they have transferred. Similar ideas have been explored in Black Mirror, especially in White Christmas and Be Right Back episodes

Thanks for reading and keep up the good work
