Two Claps For A Villain…

When I finished the episode last night I was not sure how to feel, my immediate response was “I didn’t love that episode.” However, as I have pondered I am actually pretty impressed with how quickly the writers have snapped back into the original storyline. There were a few moments and characters from this episode that I really want to reflect on, admire, and make some predictions.
1) The unexpected end to Rhaegal. I feel like a lot of people are going to be devastated by this. (Including myself) But let’s look at this from an alternate perspective. IF Daenerys was a villain who used her dragons for evil and Cersei was an honorable queen protecting the seven kingdoms we would be celebrating right now. I am going to overcome my feelings about these characters and give kudos where it is due. Cersei is fighting SMART. She is doing what any leader would/should do, good or bad, and frankly, she is on top right now.
2) HERE IS SOME TINFOIL, does being inbred make you crazy? Think back to the last incest born leader we witnessed, Geoffry, that dude was insane. I am seeing it in her eyes this episode big time. She is losing it. Not only her mind but her advisors as well. Jorah is passed on. Vary’s was very honest about pulling his loyalty from her. Tyrion is scared of her. I believe there will be MAJOR tension between her and Greyworm since she would not surrender for Missandei. Lastly, she is pushing Jon away, he is a family man first. – I also want to note that I am slightly saddened that the writers are making me feel ill towards her since she is a character I have loved for so long.
3) Arya – I am glad that she let Gendry down easy. She really isn’t a lady, she’s an assassin and we love her for it. She has the destiny to close ‘green eyes’ if you will remember. We’re all thinking Cersei. BUT I am not expecting another last-second surprise “spider monkey” kill. That would be too easy. I wouldn’t be shocked if she died TRYING to kill Cersei or winds up captured and we have some type of hostage situation that pays homage to season 1 when Ned Stark was a prisoner. Honestly, who knows? I am just ready to see how her storyline unfolds.
4) Sansa – This girl has her head on straight. She does not trust Daenery’s. She wants to keep Jon safe. Sansa is probably the only character in this show (besides Cersei) that is afraid of Dany. Maybe this is because Sansa was basically raised by Cersei. I think they should be using Sansa more than they are. She is a very underrated military asset when it comes to her mind. Also, we really need to remember her line “The men in my family don’t do well in King’s Landing.” This could be some foreshadowing that if Jon Snow (AKA Aegon Targaryen) steps into the red keep, he is doomed to die.
5) Jamie – We need to keep an eye on this character. What is his game plan? I don’t believe someone just flips 180 after a battle like that. He has a plan and we shouldn’t underestimate him. If he is truly hateful like he said, why did he come north? Was he fighting the dead to protect Cersei, was he spying for Cersei, or does he intend to kill Cersei? I don’t think any of that is true. He has never been truly harsh to Brianne, there was no reason to hurt her like that unless he wanted to keep her safe and off his scent.
Finally, Big D, last week you said the one missing piece in my email was Bran and that they wouldn’t just leave his character sitting in the courtyard for 3 episodes. He had maybe 2 lines this episode and he pretty much just sat in the godswood after that. So Ashley: 1, Big D: 0. Let’s see what happens in the next two episodes.
