Westworld Episode 3 Theory
I have a possible theory/answer to the question regarding the “key” or authentication needed to access Peter Abernathy’s massive data file of Westworld IP. I believe the password was inadvertantly uttered by Abernathy. While Bernard is trying to open the encrypted file, Abernathy says “what is the use of a violent kind of delightfulness if there is no pleasure in…” before again malfunctioning. Abernathy then becomes silent and Bernard looks down to see the encryption key accepted.
Perhaps this is a callback to our season 1 phrase “these violent delights have violent ends.” The line is this episode is from a poem by Gertrude Stein called “A Substance in a Cushion.” I believe he slipped into his Shakespearian character temporarily leading to him reciting this line.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!
