Westworld – Host Detection

Hey guys,

I really love the podcasts! Keep up the great work. I just discovered your podcast starting on the second season so I am sorry if you have already discussed this, if so just point me in the correct direction.

I wanted to know your opinion on the huge hole in the logic of this show that is bothering me. In this season(2nd) we see that can not tell human from host without being within arms reach and having a special device but somehow the bullets or guns are able to detect human or host in an instant from any distance? My initial thought was that a bullet has no way of determining this on impact so my theory is that the gun is sending out some communication between the hosts maybe using the mesh network that BENARD talked about. (By the way Big D don’t worry about all of the hate from mis pronouncing this, I would rather you say BENARD, or come up with some way to say it worse ??). Maybe the bullets are all fake and the hosts just have explosive skin when the bullets make contact… no that sounds dumb. Either way, I just wanted to point out that if the weapons are able to discern between humans and hosts, why are we not just using these guns and firing at anybody when clearing the parks. Better safe than sorry.
