Westworld Season 2 Theory
Would be great if I could hear your perspectives on how Lacan and Freud theories on desire and the subconscious fit into driving the subtext of the narrative of Westworld. Lost and Westworld remind me a lot of David Lynch films, like Lost Highway, it would be great to hear you guys do like a psychoanalysis and comparison of Lost Highway and Westworld, and David Lynch/Lost writers. I believe they have been heavily influenced by Lynch’s work.
Anyway now to my theory:
I think the big reveal this season is that we have been watching a hybrid Bernard and Arnold (Bernarnold) since episode one. It looks like Ford succeeded where William failed and maybe the fugue state of mind is the process Ford realized they needed for the mind to accept the new body. The door is, therefore, likely a means for William to find the answer/solution to his biggest mistake. Going back to where it all began with Delos. Maybe Ford is also still alive and living in the network like an all seeing higher power pulling the strings from the grave. He seems to be able to tap into any host at anytime. It feels like the conversations Ford is having with MIB through other hosts are real and not just pre-programmed responses based off of predictive behavior or If/Then statements.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
David Faruq
