Westworld Telegraph Fan Theory

Hey guys,

I don’t really follow all of the theories in reddit, etc, mostly just listen to your podcasts and occasionally a couple others, so sorry if this has been brought up before!

Ever since season 1 confirmed that Willa and the MIB are the same person, I really hoped they’d bring Jimmie Simpson back because I really liked his character and the actor. Now that he’s confirmed in season 2, I’m really excited to possibly see my theory come true:

They’ve already done flashbacks as part of William’s story, and I think the creators could be more creative than that. We know that Dolores and the other hosts don’t perceive time the way we do, so what if in the upcoming season(s) the MIB and Dolores develop a less adversarial relationship and begin to bond again like they did when they were younger, and in doing so, Dolores sees young William (Jimmie Simpson) in the present time instead of Ed Harris. This could be justified by the strong emotional history they have together, and her vision of young Will could be triggered by a reignited love between them. It kind of would be like augmented reality being developed today, just on a far more advanced level with the hosts.

I’m not sure what direction they plan on taking William/MIB, but I think this could be really beautiful, and potentially a tragic ending if he manages to mend his relationship with Dolores but ultimately dying in the chaos of the upcoming season(s). After spending years in Westworld searching for a deeper truth, he finds some sort of meaning or satisfaction in his relationship with Dolores, getting beyond the fact she is a host.

Hope this made some sort of sense, and sorry for the long-windedness.
