Hey guys,

I love the podcast! After listening to the instacast this morning, I thought I better send in a quick French lesson to help with the title of episode 7, Les Les Ecorches.

The phrase does indeed literally translate to “those who’ve been skinned”. But it’s commonly used to refer to people who are tortured or damaged – not necessarily literally skinned alive. “Tortured” and “damaged” certainly feel to me like apt adjectives to describe Bernard, Abernathy, and Maeve (amongst many others) in this episode.

Oh, and here’s how to pronounce the phrase: “laze-ey-korsh-ey” (make sure to slur together with your best French accent, as if it were a single, long word ??).

Thanks, and keep up the great work!
