803 – Arya’s Destiny

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey Guys,

I am still on a high from this episode. Wow. Just wow. I really thought it was going to be a complete loss and we were going to see Winterfell fall, and fall hard. The Great War may be over, but now they have basically no armies left to face Cersei. I am excited to see GoT go back to their roots though and get away from the Night King story line.

Arya has always been my main girl since day one. I am a huge Maisie Williams fan and was so glad to see her be the one to take down the Night King. I know some people were surprised by this, but I knew from the moment the red woman said “…and blue eyes” where Arya was going and what she would be doing.

So I want to say that I am not the original author of this theory, but I read this theory at some point last week and can’t remember the source. The theory goes that Jaqen H’ghar knew who Arya was and realized she was a Stark when he first saw her. He gave her the coin as her ticket into the House of White and Black so that she could be trained as a Faceless Man because she needed the skill set of an assassin to take out the Night King. Perhaps Syrio Forel even tipped off the Faceless Man as to who she was and Jaqen allowed himself to be captured and taken by the Nights Watch so that he could intercept her.

Think about it like this: the Night King stole many lives from the Many Faced God (the God of Death, the Lord of Light, whatever you want to call him) and was demanding them back, so the Faceless Men allowed Arya to come and train but also leave and resume her old identity so that she could reclaim these lives for the Many Faced God. Once she was fully trained as an assassin, they let her leave even though they could have easily taken her out for abandoning the “no one” identity because it was her destiny to be Arya Stark, the assassin to take out the Night King and reclaim thousands upon thousands of lives for the Many Faced God.

Not sure how this all ties in with the Azor Ahai prophecy, and if she is by default the Princess that was Promised. But honestly, I could care less about the prophecy because this ending to the Night King was fan-fucking-tastic.

Love the podcast, keep up the great work.
