This Is Our World Premier Video

Hello Shat Crew,

Thank you again for your great podcasts. I’m looking forward to your upcoming episodes and of course West World (did you see the new trailer with Aaron Paul? Looks interesting). Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this ending. I feel complete and have no unanswered questions. I feel like all the characters got what they have wanted since Season 1. Sansa a Queen, Arya a warrior, Jon to belong, Sam a Maester, Brienne a Knight, Tyrion to be of service and Bran to rule over the 6 kingdoms. My guess is that he knew all along that it would end with him as King that”s why he kept his mouth shut.

However, my somewhat happy feelings for this beloved show is clouded by the sadness I feel around all the negative feedback the Double D”s are getting. I don’t think these guys could have done anything that would have made this audience happy. They turned as quickly as Dany did to the Mad Queen. I liken this finale season to World Premier Videos on MTV in the “80s. Specifically Michael Jackson”s Thriller. I remember what a huge spectacle that moment was. We all sat around the tv with our friends and neighbors to watch this mini-movie music video!!! What?!?! That was so crazy and unheard of! It was tv history. GoT was our World Premier video of 2019. The end of a decade. The end of an era. TV has become so much more sophisticated and creative. There is no doubt in my mind that there will be something else just as big and just as controversial as GoT in the near future (**cough, cough** George”s next 2 books) and hopefully, you will podcast on it. ??

I think the Double D”s were smart to end while they were at their peak. I think if they kept going or drew it out, they would have risked jumping the shark. This last season was rushed, but I think they hit all the points they needed to. We are used to the slow burn, however, I suspect when binging the show in its entirety, it won’t seem that way at all. Which is exactly what I am going to do next.

Keep up the great podcasting.

Thanks,
Gabby in San Diego
