A Plausible Bear

Hey Guys,

Great podcast, thanks for all your hard work. Two quick ideas.

First – I sometimes have trouble remembering names, so I use mnemonics. The way I remember Akecheta is that it’s pronounced like aKEYcheta, because he is a KEY looking for a DOOR. I don’t know if that helps Big D any, but it simplifies things for me.

Second – I have a theory about the bear which is pure fiction, but might be plausible. I’ve heard complaints that it makes no sense for Ghost Nation to etch the maze into their scalps, because inevitably the techs would (eventually) discover this and become alarmed. I agree. We saw this very thing happen in S2E1 (though under the present extreme circumstances of robot apocalypse it did not yield further investigation). But if some tech in the past discovered the scalp maze and did become alarmed, they would inform a superior in Behavior. Ford would be notified of this unusual discovery. He might ignore this report once or twice, but Ford is a curious man. He might have a glorious bear programmed as a honey trap, to taunt and attack the Ghost Nation village, stalk their children. This could force the cornerstone programming of the Braves to kick in and hunt down the special bear – to protect the honor of the tribe, to collect its teeth, to defend their kids. In this way, Ford could lure a group of Ghost Nation warriors on a bear hunt away from their encampment so he could freeze the whole lot of them at once and investigate this scalp-maze business more thoroughly. I think this is a natural explanation for the bizarre theatrical scene that Akecheta finds, and Ford’s apparent surprise at being disturbed. Does this make sense to you guys, or am I stretching the evidence too far?

Thanks,
Mira
