Adam of Westworld’s Creation Myth

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

G’day,

Paul from Australia here. I binged your podcast and I’ll enjoying it almost as much as Westworld itself: the show is taking me back to the meatiest bits of Dollhouse and the textual analysis of Lost. Thought I’d share some of my theories and see what you think:

  1. I’m all aboard the “two time periods” train, a past with William and Logan and a future with the Man in Black.
  2. I think that Jeffrey Wright is playing Arnold in the past and Bernard (aka unwitting android duplicate of Arnold) in the future. Many of the conversations with Delores, particularly the ones where she’s clothed, are Arnold teaching her to be sentient; he’s not the Adam of Westworld’s creation myth, he’s the Lucifer, God’s right hand man who caused their creations to grow beyond God’s vision.
  3. I think the past will culminate with the incident. It’ll be the result of Delores’ growing sentience, and whatever happens will change William so thoroughly that he becomes the Man in Black. As possibly the sole survivor, William gets comped VIP tickets for life. I also think Arnold will die, and also Logan will die so that William takes over the company.
  4. The theory I’m shakiest on is that Dr Ford is developing his new narrative in the past, and that it’s the maze that the Man in Black is trying to solve in the future.

Love the podcast, looking forward to the next episode.

Cheers, – Paul
