Love the podcast. You guys are awesome. I love how you rationally discuss various theories no matter how far out there they are.

So my theory is that Bernard is a host made by Ford in the image of his former partner Arnold. And while there is no hard evidence to support this I feel there is a lot of corroborative.

First when they show the old sketches of the hosts the names are written on the bottom but when they show the sketch of Bernard they cut off the bottom of the page where the name would be.

Second, if Bernard is based on Arnold that would explain why Ford showed him a picture of his own father since showing a picture of Arnold/himself wouldn’t have registered. “It doesn’t look like anything to me”

Also if you believe there are two timelines when Bernard is having his conversations with Delores that could be Arnold from 30 years previous. Who we know had access to to the workshop out in the park where he built Fords family.

Based on a conversation between Bernard and Elsie in one of the early episodes. Bernard says he has been working at the park for 10 years. That would have given ford 20 years since the incident to work in private on perfecting a host that could pass for human. And if Ford is making a host to pass as human and be a programmer whose image is better to use than the original programmer of the hosts of the park.

I think I had some other points throughout the day but can’t remember them at the moment. Keep up the good work I’ll keep listening. – Dave from Des Moines.

It’s not so much a blank spot in the photo as one photo covering another. At least that’s how it looks to me (see this link. This doesn’t necessarily contradict the Bernarnold theory, but takes away some of the motivation for the theory.

Daddy Abernathy looks at Bernard when he says he will get revenge on “you … both”. Maybe he wants revenge on Bernard for bringing in these very realistic emotions that allow them to suffer.

“The only thing I have left of them is this pain.” Dolor in latin means pain or suffering. Is Dolores the only thing that Ford has left of his deceased wife? Who maybe committed suicide because of Ford’s dark side? Here’s another picture of Ford in regular clothes wearing a wedding ring. Is Dolores based on Ford’s own Lolita?

I’m with you also! I was thinking exactly what Gene said too. I think another big clue comes from the first episode when OG Daddy Abernathy breaks down and he’s being interviewed by Ford. Abernathy says something (that I of course can’t remember) and Ford looks directly at Bernard. Then Ford asks what his itenerary is and he says, ‘to meet my maker. You (looks at Ford), and you (looks at Bernard)’. At that point we didn’t know about Arnold so it didn’t mean anything but now I think it’s significant,

I’m completely with you on this one, Dave.

Also, the photo seems to even have a blank spot in it. Could Bernarnold be the person who’s in the gap? We’ve already seen him blind to doors, why not people in photographs?
