Big D May Be Onto Something…

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Guys,

Didn’t finish the Deep Dive, before I sent my previous email. I think Big D’s theory has a good chance to be true. It ties in with my previous voicemail and email and could help explain the change in William’s character. If this theory is true and the technology doesn’t truly work, seeing his daughter could cause hybrid William to reject reality. The seeming inconsistencies, in William’s memory of his wife’s suicide, could be evidence for this theory as well. As you guys also pointed out, it seems odd that William is not skipping the cut scenes and that he seems to care about the hosts now. This could also be evidence. All three of you brought up great points here.

I would like to note something. William knows Ford is dead. William intends on burning down the whole fucking thing. William tells Lawrence they both could end up dead for real this time. Perhaps, now that William knows there will be no one to bring the hosts back, he feels the stakes are real for the hosts in this new game as well. After seeing that the hosts were capable of being alive, when he killed Maeve’s daughter and now knowing that the stakes are real for them, maybe it wouldn’t be out of character for a human William, to have this change of heart towards the hosts. Maybe, this newfound feeling of immersion would get William back into his character, the man that he could be, the white hat. Perhaps, I feel this way only because, I believe strongly that William killing Maeve’s daughter caused both Ford and William to see the hosts in a new light.

I believe that Ford is effectively still running the show. However, I do not believe that there is any ghost in the machine. I think Ford really died. We may find later that he was transplanted into a hybrid. But, even if we do not, I think Ford could have had the foresight, to program all of the relevant narratives necessary, for any hosts to do what he needed. Regardless of one’s thoughts on this theory, one cannot deny that, it is indeed plausible. The pod just keeps getting better. Exceptional. Without question in a class by itself.
