Bran/Nk Lack Of Backstory
I absolutely love the fact that Arya killed the NK. But I, like many other fans, feel frustrated at the lack of backstory behind what transpired between the NK and Bran at the end. Did the NK post those symbols simply as a “fuck you” to the Children of the Forest? Is there no chance the NK can return somehow? I think I expected a really mind-blowing moment, like when we realized the Hodor time-loop situation. Was it really just as simple as the NK being pure evil and needing to kill Bran?
I also wonder: if the NK knew that eliminating Bran would eliminate mankind, what’s to stop any other crazy villain from attempting to murder Bran? Does Bran need a secret service team to keep him safe for the rest of his life?
I think we have reached a point where the amount of mystery surrounding the 3ER is becoming frustrating rather than compelling.
Really fantastical characters like the Night King need some elaboration because a purely evil villain is not really all that interesting or complex. It’s quite simple and therefore runs the risk of being boring. I hope we get some exciting backstory next episode, perhaps illustrating how Bran might have been helping everyone rather than just flying around the NK as a crow saying “come and get me!” What do you think?
Thanks for reading, love the podcast!
