Bran Vs Drogon

Guys,

Daniel from Perth, Western Australia here. How amazing would it have been if they’d had Bran warg into Drogon. Hear me out on this and imagine how powerful this scene could’ve been.

Setting the scene you could either do this during the Destruction of Kings Landing or even a subsequent battle after Daenerys has taken control over the Iron Throne. For imagination’s sake, lets pick the sacking of Kings Landing.

Drogon is flying around burning women and children, crumbling stone and lighting the place up. Bran, who is back at Winterfell next to fiery hearth, is warged into the ravens and watching the slaughter and decides he has to step in.

His first efforts cause Drogon falter a little but nothing more. He tries again and this time Drogon lands, shaking his head and screeching out fire in resistance with Dany clinging on for dear life. We focus in on Drogon and suddenly the screen goes black.

In this empty space stands Bran. Stoic and still… staring blankly into the darkness.

There’s a glow from high up… a glow which becomes a small burst of flame that illuminates Drogon standing in the darkness. As the flame dies out we hear Drogon’s heavy body slowly moving forwards… closer and closer to Bran’s body.

The next we see the glow it is right next to Bran and this time the scene brightens a little so that we can see Drogon in all his glory towering over this boy who dares to challenge him. He lets out an almighty raw filled with rage and hate.

Back in Kings Landing Drogon is still shaking around in resistance and Dany is flung from his back rolling to a stop nearby. She gets up quickly and runs to her dragon in confusion.

Back in the void, Bran starts stepping towards Drogon who retreats back still writhing, licks of flame shooting into the air. The further back Drogon steps the less he thrashes. Every step Bran draws closer until finally, Drogon is still, crouched on the floor, staring with absolute venom at Bran.

Bran reaches forward and places his hand on Drogon’s head. Drogon’s eyes close and we see Bran’s eyes flick back.

Back in Kings Landing Daenerys is next to Drogon who is posed in the same position as he was in the void. Drogon’s eyes flick back, just like Bran’s. Dany sees this and realises what is happening. A dark rage descends upon her and with a cry of anger, she places both her hands on Drogon’s head.

In the Void now we see Bran still standing with his hand on Drogon who is still posed as he was earlier. Bran’s face, normally stoic, starts to change. A tremble of the forehead, a bead of sweat, lips part and he inhales sharply and his eyes suddenly return to normal.

Bran’s hands are still on Drogon and the camera moves past Bran into a close-up of the dragon’s face. His eyes snap open but it is not Drogon’s eyes. These are the eyes of Daenerys Targaryen. This is the full might of a dragon and THE dragon.

Drogon pulls back and draws himself up to his full height. This time there is no panic. No writing. No screeching. He is calm. He is still. And he is angry.

The first starts to billow up from his throat. Bran stares up emotionless. The flames start to spill out of Drogon’s mouth until finally, he spews out flame onto the small body of Bran in front of him.

Bran snaps awake at Winterfell. A trickle of blood runs down his nose and he looks at the flames before signaling for someone to pull him away from the fireplace.

In Kings Landing Drogon’s eyes return to normal. Daenerys shares a moment of love and relief with him. Then the moment shifts as the reality of what just happened sinks in. She sees a group of North men nearby. She sees the Red Keep in the distance. She’s surrounded by enemies. Resolved she clambers back onto Drogon who launches into the air with renewed vigor and doubles down on her attack.

I believe a scene like this would serve several aspects of the story. First of all you have the power and might of Drogon. So far we’ve seen Bran warg into whatever he wants, from Ravens to Dire Wolves to Hodor and there has been no resistance. But this is a dragon. By showing the resistance you realise just how much willpower these incredible creatures has and he’s not going down without a fight.

Next, we witness how powerful Bran’s abilities are. Drogon has put up an incredible fight but ultimately Bran is too strong His will dominates over the dragon and he is able to take control over his body.

But then the final step of Daenerys joining with Drogon services several elements. First, this is a manifestation of the almost telepathic link she has with her dragons. We’ve seen previously how she calls them, commands them and communes with them. This would be a further exploration of that link and how deeply it runs. Then there is the symbolism of her joining forces with Drogon and seemingly becoming the dragon. It ties into a lot of the Targaryen mythology and would also symbolize and evolution of her character. Finally, it would give her a stronger reason to distrust the Starks and the North. Put her more at odds with them. And her fierce protectiveness over her last child would be a massive driver in sending her over the edge.

Cheers for taking the time to read. Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed coming up with it.

All the Best
