Cautionary Tale of What Can Happen with Artificial Intelligence

Alright so here’s my theory written out in chronological order of how I think events played out.

Arnold and Ford were partners when the park began. Arnold had lost his son at some point and this was his motivation for wanting to make the hosts sentient so that he could in a way bring back his son. I feel that he created the maze. The maze is not so much a physical object but more of a psychological maze that can only be solved by a sentient being.

Thus, if a host were able to evolve enough to “solve” the maze, then that host would essentially have become conscious and self-aware. I think in the early days of the park the maze would have been alluded to everywhere and that’s why it shows up in the story line with William and Logan. I believe their timeline is occurring just before the first host becomes enlightened.

I feel like it’s a cautionary tale of what can happen with artificial intelligence. What happens when someone realizes that they are a pawn of something else? They want out.

I think a rebellion took place and Arnold died because of it. Realizing that the “maze” and hosts becoming self-aware are what lead to the rebellion after it has been squashed, Ford and the rest of the team try to erase any evidence of the maze from existence in the park. This is why the Man in black had to scalp someone in order to find it in the present day timeline.

I think the maze still existed buried somewhere deep in the coding but inaccessible until the reveries were added to the system and now someone has begun to remember.

At some point, due to his longing for the past, Ford created host Bernard in the image of Arnold and gave him a similar backstory of losing his son. The times we see bernard talking with Dolores and she’s clothed is actually Arnold back in the day trying to instill consciousness in her.

Ford realized the danger of the hosts becoming self-aware, this is why he insists on everyone treating them as only machines and continuously reiterates that at every opportunity.

Now, in the present day the MIB is trying to find this hidden legend that supposedly exists. The board is trying to force Ford out. Maeve is becoming self-aware, just like a host did 30 plus years ago and the cycle is going to repeat itself.
