There’s a theory about crypts of winterfell; from a book 4 of Song of Ice and Fire we know that the first man called “knight king” was Stark (Brandon Stark who married a white walker). If white walkers have a connection to starks maybe it allows them to somehow get into the crypts through some “backdoor” and kill everyone there and collect already dead starks. And if you look closer to the opening credits, it will give you chills.
