Ending For Westworld

Hi all,

Love the pod and you lot are great podcasters.

It’s getting to the end of season 4 and assuming it doesn’t get cancelled, only has one more season left. So how do you guys see the show ending? (Probably a question better suited to the end of the season than the end of this episode).

Here are my thoughts. For me the ultimate questions the show has proposed to us, the viewers, from the very beginning are: What does it mean to be human and if you can’t tell the difference does it really matter? In line with that, for the first time in TV history, I actually wouldn’t mind a cliffhanger end to the series, where we aren’t sure if the hosts or humans “win”. The final scene of the series could be something from the distant future where everything is all sunshines and rainbows and the audience is left to question whether everyone’s human or a host or if both do coexist in peace. For me this leaves us with the question of ‘does it matter if we can’t tell the difference and everything is all well and good’. Hell maybe a little post credits scene of someone in the future ‘questioning the nature of their reality’ to give a little wink and nod to the loops. (This would leave it open to a little spin-off/epilogue miniseries but that’s me fan-fictioning).

Anyway, what are your lots thoughts?

Thank you
Ch4 from the UK

P.S. I love hearing all of your opinions and analysis of the show. For me the pod is a must listen for the show for everyone because it’s so easy to miss some details in Westworld. I may not agree with your opinions all the time but I am glad you lot haven’t just folded under some of the negativity. So thank you for the pods. Who knows if we get another season.
