Everything’s Coming Up Cersei

Hey guys,

Love the show.

Couple of quick notes: the plan to bring a wight to Cersei is incredibly ill conceived. Cersei is most duplicitous woman in King’s Landing and the least trustworthy–a truce with her is practically meaningless and Tyrion of all people should know that. It should’ve been sold as “even if there is a tiny chance she honors the truce, that’s better than no truce at all.” In the end, Daeny lost one of her dragons in pursuit of a truce in name only.

In the grand meeting at the Dragonpit, Euron has a completely believable scene where he abandons Cersei due to his terror of the wight, who he is told can’t swim. Later we learn this was a ruse and Euron was always meant to leave. Since Cersei did not know Daeny et al. was bringing an actual living dead wight with them, how was this planned? “Euron, find a completely authentic way to demonstrate you’re a coward and leave”? Did Euron study improv with the Groundlings (no relation to the Wildlings)? He doesn’t know ahead of time there will be a wight there and even if he did, there is no way he would know that wights can’t swim. What if Jon said, “yes, they’re excellent swimmers and they go holiday on the islands”? How does Euron leave then?

Finally, Cersei’s plan all along is to agree to a truce and stab Daeny in the back. In fact, she herself also ACTUALLY needs the truce because she wants to ensure Daeny does not attack King’s Landing while Euron is Essos-bound, leaving the Bay unguarded. So the plan is to promise a false truce…but then what does Cersei do? She decides to play hard to get? How does she know Tyrion will embark on what is reasonably a suicide mission and chase her to the Red Keep to ask for her to reconsider? What happens if Tyrion acts in self-preservation and doesn’t meet with her? Oh well, I just left the Bay unguarded. Oh well, I just lost the element of surprise. This all worked out too perfectly for her to actually plan.
