Finale Theory- Response to Small Council Pod

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hi Guys!

Unfortunately it took me forever to find a GOT podcast that I genuinely enjoyed but I found you! Better late than never. I love the dialogue between you two and I love the analyzing you bounce off of each other. Anyways! I am in the middle of listening to the episode posted yesterday titled Small Council and I wanted to share my thoughts before I forget exactly what I want to say. I’m not quite sure which one of you triggered it but in the Instacast and the Deep Dive one of you mentioned that nearly none of the conversations or interactions in the last episode were done without some sort of small purpose behind them that could foreshadow events to come. Immediately what came to mind was the pairings done in the Battle of Winterfell. I think the pairing of Sansa and Tyrion was done beautifully but it also sparked a theory for me. We know now that Dany is being likened to her father the Mad King. Her stans don’t like it but at the end of the day her paranoia, her wrath, the fact that you pointed out she seemed to enjoy punishing people with dragon fire; the resemblance is undeniable and the parallel I feel is not being done by mistake. This is what we see leads Varys to voice his concerns to the Tyrion in turn revealing his true feelings and concerns about the dragon queen. My point is: Varys is 100% going to be her undoing. I don’t believe he will get his hands dirty but we know where his loyalties stand now and I strongly feel that he’s going to betray her. The question then comes, who will he side with? And I feel like that answer is Sansa Stark. We know he is not welcome in King’s Landing for his treasonous crimes of helping Tyrion. I highly doubt Cersei would overlook that no matter what prize Varys dangles in front of her and further more he stated he sides with the realm and Cersei is no good for the realm either. So that eliminates Cersei. But since we know how Sansa feels about Dany and that she now knows about Jon’s true identity, I think together she and Varys will work together against Dany. Think about it. How did Sansa find out about the attack on Rhaegal so quickly? Varys has little birds everywhere and we’ve seen the use of his birds accelerate things in the past. I think Varys is the one who sends word. My second part of the theory is that Arya isn’t going to be the one to kill Cersei. BUT I do feel like she will have a pivotal roll. Consider this, she used to run around and chase the cats and play in the deeper halls of the Red Keep and Kings Landing when she was there in season one. We know she obviously has her faces and ability to get new ones. I feel like this is a key point that everyone is overlooking. I think she will be key in the endgame solely for this reason. Lastly: Jon. I think that when he arrives and meets back up with Dany, it will come out that he told his sisters the truth and Dany will turn on him- pushing the Mad Queen narrative because her paranoia will not allow her to trust him beyond that. I don’t have an exact theory for what happens between them but we all know GOT does not do happy endings and they will not end up happily ever after on the throne together. I don’t know how but I believe Dany will die before the end of the season. Remember what the cast said when they finished filming and where asked about the ending? I remember them specifically stating that a lot of fans will have issues and be disappointed because it’s not what anyone’s expecting or hoping for. And in true GOT fashion, they will kill their most main character or atleast one of them and it will be Dany. Jon will live but he will recuse himself from the throne and Tyrion will make his claim with Sansa. The people of Kings Landing will support it because they won’t want another Targaryen after Dany burns the city and the Mad King. Gendry has a claim but I doubt they’ll make that play. That only leaves Tyrion and Sansa.

It’s not a perfect theory but it’s the one I’m backing!
Thanks for actually taking the time to read all this!
Keep up the good work guys I can’t wait to hear the next pod and I’ll probably follow other shows for your pod as well because I enjoy you both so much.
