Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey, Rog!

Thanks for getting back!

Arnold creates Ford -> Ford kills or has Arnold killed-> Ford creates Bernard

Whether or not Bernard is really BernArnold, I still can’t figure out.

This is where the theory gets a little tin-foil…yes it may be a slightly porous at this point but crazier things have happened on HBO, amirite?!

The most real truth we have is that Ford is an unreliable narrator. He’s already lied to Bernard multiple times, but the most concerning were him lying when Bernard asked if he had ever hurt anyone before. Ford was just about to wipe Bernard’s memory, so why didn’t he tell the truth as it wouldn’t have mattered in 3 seconds? Any previous testimony from Ford regarding past/present/future can only be subjectively believed.

Bernard had this elaborate back story created for him (granted if he is only a Host and never previously been human). Right down to the picture of his son and him on Bernard’s nightstand. Hosts can only see what they are allowed to see, and nothing more. So who is to say this isn’t the case for Ford? Arnold could have programmed Ford with this backstory from 1.) the very beginning of his creation or 2.) sometime after, as Arnold wanted Ford to be the closest to human that his technology would allow. With the backstory, Ford can appear to be more human to those who he encounter. It’s these reveries which allow the hosts to be more human-like, right?

As far as aging”this can be supported with the fact he has the capability to create a new face/build, and the fact that Delos employees always swap out for periods at a time. It’s quite possible they recycle through employees quite easy that no one notices Ford hasn’t aged. I can’t imagine their retention rate being strong.

All-in-all, it just feels more organic and comforting to think that Ford is a Host with a vendetta, then just a human who is a plain old jerk.

Keep up the amazing job you guys. I’m going to be super bummed when this season is over!
