Hi guys,

I so appreciate your Instacast/Deep Dive reactions to the last episode! After the episode ended, I told my boyfriend, “I’m not sure how to feel…” and in some ways, I’m still there. Mixed emotions.

After sitting with my emotions for a few days, I think this is how I feel: This is not the Dany that I have supported for so many years! After saying that, I realize that some of our characters may be feeling the same way. (Most notably Tyrion, and though Jon hasn’t known Dany as long, this wasn’t what he signed up for.) I also fully believe that Missandei would not have been happy to see Dany or Gray Worm’s actions. Sure, she said, “Dracarys” before she died, but this kind, peaceful, diplomatic woman would never look on from the afterlife and smile at her lover or her queen while they slaughtered innocent women and children or raped people in the streets. That’s not what Missandei was about; she would weep to see what they did. In Dany’s moment on that wall, I thought her next move might be to ride straight to the Red Keep and take Cersei out. Maybe as Gene said, demolish most the structure, and yes, there would be some civilian casualties. Fear instilled. And she’d still have citizens to rule over. Who’s she gonna rule over now? The Unsullied and a handful of Dothraki? And is she gonna dig the Iron Throne out of the rubble to sit on it?! I think she, like many of the soldiers, had a bloodlust moment. She got caught up in killing and all her emotions, and then… kill kill kill. (I hated it. I’m still upset about it. And yes, I want Arya to don Gray Worm’s face and kill Dany now.)

I will say that I believe Cersei played the game the best, and contrarily, I firmly believe she deserved to die! The difference between her & Walter White is that Cersei was never good. She was doing her brother and murdering people (or you know, getting others to kill for her) from the very beginning of this show.

Also, I have to tell you–after the Instacast I was still stuck with the feels, so I decided maybe I’d explore other G.O.T. podcasts to help me through. I clicked on the first one that came up in my search–and I think it’s a really popular one–and IT WAS SO BAD. So bad! (If I wanted to listen to confusion/stunned reactions, I’d just talk to myself!) I want to say that I really appreciate the thoughtful analytical comments you all have, all the research you do, and all the listener comments you include. They so enrich the content of your podcast, and in my opinion, they make you all rise over others. (Obviously, I have not listened to every single G.O.T. podcast out there; I’m sure there are other okay ones.) I’m just trying to say thanks for dedicating so much time to this and for doing such a great job. I look forward to this after each episode, and I’m looking forward to checking out your Shat the Movies episodes as well as getting up to date with “American Gods”.

Thanks again,
Andi S.

Thanks for the kind words, Andi! Would you be OK with Grey Worm dying to give Arya that opportunity?
