Game Of Thrones – Prophecies Are Bullsh*

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Dear my favorite newly discovered podcast,

My tinfoil hat theory is that prophecies, at least as far as the TV show goes, mean NOTHING.

Well, let me back off of that a little bit. Prophecies are only useful as a tool to influence character motivation. They are only mentioned by characters who have a fanatical obsession with them; giving a reason for those characters to make certain choices.

In some instances, choices that are meant to avoid what is prophesied actually leading to the very thing they were trying to avoid.

Whether it’s the Red Woman, Cersei, or Daenerys; they are the respective prophecy’s audience and at least in the TV show, the only ones that voice their respective prophecies.

So I would be extremely surprised if the TV show fulfills any prophecy whether it’s Azor Ahai, the valqar, or what ever that was that Daenerys saw in the House of the Undying.

This may very well be different in the upcoming books. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if Martin fulfills most prophecies just not in the obvious ways.
