Game Of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3

Hi Guys,

First time writing in, been listening to your show since last season. Love you guys.

I can’t help but be annoyed with the darkness of this episode. And I literally mean the darkness. Like I couldn’t see shit. This is not a minor detail. Gene you seemed annoyed that people complained about being able to see…I mean isn’t that a fair complaint? I think they could have used the darkness to show the struggle of the battle and the severe weather conditions but also made it clearer. I mean who doesn’t want to see a dragon fight clearly? For a minute I thought Rhaegar was dead. Millions of dollars spent on this show. Fans salivating for this episode, the war between the living and the dead. Why does the audience have to struggle to see it? People compare this to Lord of the Rings Battle of Helm’s Deep. What a difference some glorious artificial light makes…What a f**** difference. I can’t believe the production company watched this episode and no one said…damn it’s dark. And I don’t mean dark and full of terrors.

Theon the Hero:

On another note, Theon is a complete Gangsta! So proud of him. I was like damn Theon, I forgot how good he was at archery. He laid everyone down. He finally completed his arc. Even though I hated him for so long, I actually felt really bad for him when he died. Also…no one thought to give Theon more arrows? Like now is not the time to run out of arrows.

Do you think now that the Night King is dead, they will explore his motivations anymore? I feel like that was such a huge piece of the show and now he is just dead. Could he really have been that one dimensional? Also, what was up with Bran and the Night King staring each other down? Did Bran know that Arya was coming? Didn’t the Night King’s sword look like plastic to you? (hahaha)

Dothraki Massacre:

This annoyed the f** out of me too. I mean haven’t we learned anything? Did Battle of the Bastards teach us nothing? Why are they charging ahead? Let the damn dead people charge. That really pissed me off. However, all their fire going out…also scared the shit out of me. That was effective. When Jorah came back I was like wait are his eyes blue?

Do we have a head count on the Dothraki? Was it 40K? Did she literally lose 40K men in 5 minutes?

Ghost: Also a f*** gangsta.

Did anyone else think that the dead were fighting a lot better than they were before? They seemed stronger and faster than before.

Battle Strategy:

I still think it was not offensive enough. They knew the dead were coming. They have two “full grown dragons” as everyone likes to keep saying. Why not do some behind the scenes work using the dragons? Why not come from behind and burn up thousands of the dead before the battle even starts? The whole sitting and waiting seemed so stupid to me. And then when the Dothraki did charge…hey Dany/Jon, maybe now is a good time to use that move you used in the Spoils of War episode and light those mofos up. That would have made a good little dent in the army before the Dothraki charge.

Something I did not see coming, Arya killing the Night King. I did think she would kill either the Walkers or Viserion. She is so bad ass.

Melisandre:

Was I the only person who thought she would return with help (like the Fiery Hand, or the high priestess) She just came back alone. Why the hell did she go back to Volantis?

Looking forward:

Now my worse fear has come true. Cersei has something terrible up her sleeve. I so don’t want the dragons to die at Cersei’s hand, or Jon or Dany. The North/Dany/Jon have no army. Now what?

I also think Dany will be pregnant. Now that we have three episodes left. They can stretch out that timeline.

Do you think if Cersei had sent her forces it would have made any difference?

Keep up the great work,
