Gilbody’s Law

Have a Theory? Share It Now!
Hey guys! Been a fan since Westworld. I will try to send you an email that doesn’t suck :):)
In movies I have a law that states: “As budget goes to infinity, the script goes to zero.” I call it Gilbody”s Law, haha). The last two seasons have been big budget and chock of pyrotechnics, but the characters have become cardboard-like in nature. The “Double Ds” have oscillated between indulgent nostalgia (which is nice but does not drive character development) or sudden changes in behavior (Jaime going back to Kings Landing, Danny going Dresden). I would have rather have had 20 meaningful episodes than the Transformer-esque ones.
GoT painted also itself into a corner in the last episode. Cersi was killed and Dany went Dresden so the main female characters had been discredited/killed. Sansa becoming Queen of the North was needed to give something to the strong female character narrative. She could not be even Warden of the North under Bran as that would be emasculating, so to speak.
I was also hoping for more insight into the oft-mentioned but seldom explained “Lord of Light” and also the full meaning of the Night King. Perhaps one of the myriad of spin-offs will address these unanswered questions.
Just some thoughts. Thanks for the great GoT podcasts; cannot wait for Westworld Season 3!
