GOT 801 Winterfell

Hey Guys,

So glad I fell upon your podcast just in time for this exciting first season. What you guys are doing is awesome and greatly appreciated.

So here’s my take on the Cersei/Jamie/Euron pregnancy plot. If you listen to the Dave and Dan’s commentary on 707 they really seem to be revealing that Cersei is bluffing about the pregnancy in general. Also, if you watch the scene in 801 where she and Euron actually get it on, she has herself a nice glass of wine at the end after she notably refused a glass a wine with Tyrion during the bluffing scene at kings landing. Why refuse a glass at one point when you’re pregnant and then drink a glass after a nice romp? Maybe the writers realized they messed up by acting like a medieval woman would somehow know about fetal alcohol syndrome, or maybe she wasn’t pregnant at all. In my mind, this scene with Euron just confirmed she wasn’t pregnant.

So why screw Euron then? The obvious answer is to cover up that she got knocked up by her twin brother. But she hasn’t cared about people knowing that she screws her brother since becoming queen, so why now? Plus it almost seems to obvious and GoT likes us to think we know what’s going on. My take is this: she is hoping she will fall pregnant by Euron and produce a child that Jaime will believe is his. If he does survive his adventure up north and returns home, she could use a child as leverage to ensure her survival. Yea she sends Bronn north to supposedly kill her brothers, but I think that she is smart enough to realize that it likely won’t manifest that way. It could even potentially be a lure to try and bring Jaime back to face Cersei to confront her on why the hell she would send Bronn to kill him. And truly I think it has more to do with the fact that Bronn was left behind in kings landing and Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn can’t stand to be in the same room together so the writers needed to get Bronn out of there.
