GOT Alternate Scenes / Ending

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey guys,

I just finished your deep dive of the series finale and heard you asked for re-written scenes, if we could. Below is my attempt. It’s certainly not the best writing, but just something that I thought could be storyboarded out well, and be a more bittersweet closure to a series that never promised happy endings. Enjoy,

Adam

PS (I had to pick one scene from the previous episode to help explain some of the backdrop and power usage in the finale episode):

______

S08E05:
Winterfell has received word from one of Vary’s posthumous notes his fear of Dany’s intention to attack Queen’s Landing without mercy. Since Sansa know’s they cannot arrive in time to affect this change, she enlists Bran’s help. Bran begins to warg into ravens around the city and see’s Danny’s destruction. He understands Jon is safe but Arya is not. He is the reason the horse is there – he has warg’d into it to help save Arya.

S08E06:
Jon stabs Danny. As he lays her down he hears Drogon stirring. Jon knows what else he must do. Drogon ascends to what’s left of the throne room, see’s Danny, and begins his nudges / cries. Jon slowly walks towards the Iron Throne. Meanwhile Bran, back at Winterfell, and understanding from the previous episode that Danny has gone insane, is again warg’ing into raven’s to spy on Kings Landing. He see’s Jon kill Danny and Drogon’s rage. He begins to panic. Jon sits on the Iron Throne. Slowly he turns to Drogon.
“You know what you have to do…”
Though Drogon is enraged at the sight of Danny’s corpse, he also seems to understand what Jon is asking. He cries out a new cry as if in protest. “This is the only way…” Jon says, tears welling up.
Drogon again cries out. Bran is now trying to warg into Drogon. Jon sees Drogon’s eyes begin to change as he fights the warg’ing. He must be quick. Bran is shaking and crying using all his strength to gain control of the dragon. Jon realizes what is happening. The scene quiets… “Bran,” Jon says, “Tell my family I loved them…” Bran again screams and cries out as he almost has control… “Dracarys…” Jon says.
Flames shoot out of Drogon, hitting Jon on the Iron Throne, killing him instantly and proceeding to melt the throne, with Jon on it. Bran releases his attempts and begins to sob. Drogon, also crying, sniff’s Jon’s ashes once, lets out another cry, then picks up Danny’s body and flies off.

[Cut forward to a time lapsed Tyrion/council meeting]
Tyrion is bargained for by Grey Warm. The Unsullied believe he had a hand in Jon’s suicide mission, but Grey Warm also knows that w/o Danny, they are unwelcome and in danger – strangers in a strange land. He successfully bargain’s Tyrion’s life to provide safe passage for them to Naath. Davo’s arranges transport of the remaining Dothraki back to Essos. Meanwhile, the item of picking a King is still left. Tyrion does his speech, and Bran is selected. Tyrion is selected as Hand because, according to Bran, he owes a great debt to the kingdom, and Lannister’s always repay their debts. [Cut to Winterfell]
A burial service is had for Jon. His ashes are buried next to Lyanna, his mother. Arya leaves to go on her West of Westeros quest. Bran assigns Tormund control of the Night’s Watch. Sansa is crowned Queen of the North. The show ends with Tormund comforting a crying Ghost, saying a few words about Jon’s legacy and the hardships of the struggle for power, and then they both set off on the King’s Road back to the Wall. End Series.
