Got. Cersei Lannister’s Best Death Possible

Hey Guys,

I give thanks to the writers for, once again, giving the audience not what they think they want, but what will ultimately be better appreciated.

Since the beginning of the show until this episode, Cersei has been a character we love to hate. Over the eight seasons, the number of people with just cause to end her life is innumerable. This is exactly why no one character could truly satisfy us due to the unique revenge that would have been exacted by any particular character.

Sure, it would have been momentarily cool to see Cersei engulfed in dragon’s fire, or to have Qyburn slit her throat only to be revealed as Arya, or a dozen other ways. However, she would have died as she lived–hated by the audience and then just another dead body on the growing pile.

Instead, we see the new Mad Queen, crushing Cersei’s dreams of victory by destroying a city of a million people. Queen Cersei is defeated, and we are left with Cersei, the mother, weeping, her last desperate pleas to save her unborn child silenced as she and the only man she’s truly loved fall victim to the rage of a new tyrant, with only the audience as witness. In these moments, our hatred for Cersei is transferred to Daenerys, and Cersei dies a tragic figure. That the show could humanize and engender sympathy for Cersei Lannister was, for me, a masterful moment that no amount of blood or fire could have equaled.

As always, thank you guys for your love and devotion to the shows and your fans.
