Got Comparison To Westworld

Hey Guys,

Recently started listening to your GOT podcast and love it! I can’t wait to go back listen to your Westworld podcasts.

In the most recent Instacast Big D stated that once GOT ended nothing could replace it and that Westworld would only fill a partial hole.

I don’t think comparing the juggernaut of GOT in the middle of its 7th season to one season of Westworld is fair to Westworld. To me the big question with Westworld is can they keep the momentum going.

GOT has George RR Martin’s books as source material to guide it along which is invaluable. What does Westworld have?

I read the first three GOT books, so I think my opinion of GOT is a little tainted since I did like the books slightly more then the initial seasons of the TV series. Though of course the TV series is awesome!

I think a better question is what ONE season of GOT do you think is better than the first season of Westworld?

I’d take the first season of Westworld over any of the current GOT seasons. And that could solely be based on personal taste as I found the existential questions on what it means to be human and what is consciousness raised on Westworld to be dam riveting. GOT has a realpolitik theme to it which I love, but as a more pure science fiction enthusiast the themes and environment of Westworld are more my wheel house.

Yes, dragons are cool, but I think the whole use of “magic” in GOT is getting old for me. The “magic” starts to get cheesy when “magic” can do whatever is necessary to move the plot along. Overall, I just prefer a show based more on science.
