Got Strategy

Hello!

Brady from Delaware here. First time writing in but long time listener of the podcast. Just listened to the instacast and I heard Big D say he was going to talk about strategy so this is something that I was thinking as watching the episode.

When you think about the armies assembled and their strengths for the living, it makes me come around on one opinion I’ve seen on Jon Snow – this dude should NOT develop battle plans.

Specifically, the two that bother me are the Dothraki, great mobile horseback riders, and the Unsullied; disciplined regimented and committed infantry.

Why have the Dothraki ride out when he could have waited for the dead to come at them (first encounter being with the Unsullied then, in their formation) and have the Dothraki ride in from the sides. Very similar to how Stannis charged through the free folk north of the wall. Anyways, I’m no general or war guru, but seems pretty simple to have your armies do what their best at.

As someone who drives and travels for work a fair bit, thanks for all you do with the podcast and helping us all through the work week.
