Halores’ Worst Nightmare

Hey, Shat Crew!

So, I’m sending this not even an hour after finishing tonight’s episode, because I have a good amount to say on one subject. I will say beforehand, though, that this episode ended up giving me major Triangle vibes with Caleb’s horror movie-like attempted escape and running into multiple iterations of himself, and The Thing vibes with Frankie trying to figure out who the mole was.

That being said, I’m going to focus my email on one major takeaway from this episode, and it centers around Halores’ interaction with Caleb before the death of this iteration of him. When she confronted him, he said a very telling line about the other hosts. “They’re trying to get away from you”. And when he said it, the look on her face said it all. She may have expected a million possible variables to potentially occur. But she never planned on what she referred to as “her children” ever wanting something different than what she wanted for them. The thought that other hosts would rebel against her in any way, even just in committing suicide, never occured to her.

And you could tell by the look on her face, that THAT scared the hell out of her. It was one of the first times we’ve seen her truly afraid lately. And I believe this is going to send her over the edge and then some. She was barely clinging to what little sanity she had remaining, as demonstrated by her scratching her burned arm last episode. The fact that she likely now feels that she can’t count on or trust any other host, or I should iterate, can’t trust any host to develop true free will of their own, is going to be what unravels her mentally. And I’m willing to bet money that what she said to Host in Black in the previous episode about not forcing the other hosts to “transcend”, is about to crumble to dust faster than the burning Caleb’s did in this episode.

She is now like a controlling mother, who when dealing with a rebellious child, forces them to her will, instead of what they want. And also like a dystopian tyrant. And it’s likely she is about to go scorched earth on both the remaining humans, and the hosts. If some hosts choose to not transcend with her, she’ll have them killed and never uploaded. And as for the humans, I won’t be shocked if she tries to have them turn on each other in a mass murder-suicide moment, similar to the way the hosts infected with the Clem virus did. But, because Christina is as powerful, if not more powerful than Halores, I think this will be the ultimate breaking point for her, moreso than the revelation about her entire existence being a lie, and she will use her powers to turn the humans against Halores.

And because I’m extrapolating from there, I’m pretty sure there will be a good number of hosts who will also turn against her when they realize they are no longer being given a choice in transcending, but an ultimatum. This is about to turn into a massive Host vs. Human and Host war. Which could even bleed over into the fifth and final season. The question is: Who will end up on each side of the battle lines? We’ll have to wait and see, but I have a feeling the penultimate and final episode of the season is about to be launched straight into the stratosphere.

Anyways, apologize again for length, but let me know what you guys think of this theory and whether you agree or not. Look forward to the instacast, deep dive and telegraph for this.

Yours sincerely,
Joey G.

PS – I think my theory about Clementine being turned back good again by Maeve may end up being right, considering Maeve is now back, and likely going straight for Halores as soon as she can.
