Hello Gene and Ashley.First, thanks for doing these podcasts. I always enjoy your coverage of the show and the different perspectives you bring to the table. If I just want agreement with my opinions, I can always just talk to my cat. Second, I am enjoying the show. Maybe I’m just getting caught up in the visuals, but Hippolyta’s Magical Mystery Tour was wonderful. And George making a brief appearance to give her a chance to articulate some of the anger she must have felt when she tore up his copy of Dracula was cathartic. This episode might also be giving us a clue to what the Book of Names is really about. I thought Book of Names is an odd title for a grimoire. The title Necronomicon has been translated to mean ‘book of dead names’ although there is a bit of disagreement on any translation of the title. Lovecraft claimed it is supposed to mean ‘an image of the law of the dead’. Yes, thank you that is so helpful (insert eye roll here). But back to what I was saying. This episode was all about names. The names we give ourselves and the names others give us. Even Atticus gave Montrose a name, it was an ugly, hurtful name, which are sometimes the ones that have the most power over us. Meanwhile Hippolyta was discovering the wonders of taking back her name, which in Greek myth was the name of the queen of the Amazons and means ‘horse freed’. And while her daughter’s name is more conventional, it is also the name of a Roman goddess. So, do you look for your name in the ‘Book of Names’ or is adding your name the way to access the power? Or have I fallen too far down the rabbit hole? Three episodes left to give us all the answers, or not.Take care.Be safe.SusanState College
