Thank gawd for Charredlores (thank you internet) as Tessa Thompson rescued the show from being moved to the file ‘well made trash TV’.

When Ed Harris says “oh shit” when entering the room of Williams, I was right there with you Ed. I haven’t laughed so hard since Daenerys burnt down Kings Landing in Game of Thrones. It was hilarious. I appreciate that this might make me look heartless but this really wasn’t therapy. Sadistic Gestalt possibly?

It was shallow and cheap. It showed William to be simply a vehicle of the show rather than a complex character with depth.

Compare and contrast with Charredlores – in a few episodes, she has more depth and emotional involvement. I am invested in her revenge mission after Nathan is killed (just like John Wick’s dog) than three seasons of the Man in Black.

I just didn’t care that child William was a bit of a sociopath. Meh.

Philosophical and psychological questions are only interesting if you care about the character experiencing them. I feel kind of empty and sad for Ed Harris. It was cheesy.

There’s still interesting questions to think about with Westworld but I feel that we’re missing motivation for William, Bernard and Maeve. Characters who seem to be quite important for how this season ends. Serac, Delores, Charredlores and Caleb are carrying the show.
