It’s the End of the

Hello everybody,

I already had so many thoughts and questions with only one episode to go! Then I listened to the deep dive, so there’s more.

First off, I had a similar question to Ash regarding the ‘reprogramming’ of Caleb. Either he’s had it done a few times or it doesn’t fit the memory timelines. We are lead to believe that Caleb was reprogrammed to help hunt down outliers before he killed Francis but then, the ‘therapist’ keeps asking him how Francis died and who killed him, which means it’s after he died. As for determining outliers, I’m sorry to say but I do think that Rohoboam would identify them from birth, at least initially. If Caleb isn’t allowed to reproduce because he’s an outlier then that suggests that Rohoboam believes in nature, not nurture, that genetics determine everything. I think also of the little girl on the train, whose mother was crying when she read that her daughter’s future would end in suicide.

Speaking of mothers, I don’t understand why people are pissed off about Maeve being motivated by wanting to save her daughter and friends. I’m not even a parent and I can understand that. Expecting her to be ‘above’ those emotions is a bit like Dolores telling Charlotte that her child and husband weren’t her REAL family. Clearly she felt that they were and we saw how it turned out after she lost them. By the way, maybe it was my eyes, but I didn’t think Halores had fully recovered when she was on the phone to Saito, I thought she was in the dark and hairless still, I could be wrong. In terms of her girl gang, I will be so pissed if I don’t get to see at least Maeve, Clementine and Hanariyo fighting together – squad goals!

There were a few things in the episode that did seem unbelievable though. The convenience of the EMP was the first one, also, they clearly must have had a recovery process planned since we see both Maeve and Dolores in the preview for the next episode. Also, Bernard & Stubbs travelling with William who’s just said that he’d kill them and, that his purpose was to kill all hosts seemed really odd, also the fact that they just let him walk off and pick up a large gun. Plus, would they actually be affected if he shot them? After seeing Dolores’ through and throughs protecting Caleb, I wouldn’t think so. Besides, hasn’t Bernard got a host 3D printer at his house? Also, why would they possibly need William if he was not only a threat to all hosts but also, is ‘officially’ deceased? That would mean he would no longer have access to Delos for example.

I really hope Caleb isn’t the ‘Man in Black’ either, since he doesn’t look a thing like Jimmi Simpson ;p

As much as I’d like to believe that everything we’ve been watching isn’t a simulation, the illustrations of the maze on a couple of walls this season, does seem to suggest that it links to the conclusion, they don’t put things like that in there for nothing, right?

Lastly, it’s funny to me how many of the key players seem to have ended up as very similar characters, they are all narcissistic, willing to sacrifice everyone but themselves and, think they are the ‘good guys’ – Delores, William and Serac at least.

If we’re still using USBs in the future, I seriously doubt that they’d be stronger than the hosts and Solomon in resisting EMP waves.

I’m sure that I have many more thoughts but will leave this here for now, hoping to goodness that we get a finale that’s at least satisfying and not at all disappointing.

Thanks for the isotainment,

Karen
