The GoT season 7 finale was so satisfying and I really enjoyed the episode. Looking at the character arcs of all major players, I think Jaime Lannister riding north is going to be extremely significant in the fight against the White Walkers, and I do not mean that just because of his Valyrian steel sword.

We know that fire kills wights, and Jaime has a strong history with wildfire more so than anyone else in the series: he never used it himself, however, he killed the mad king because of wildfire, wildfire saved his armies in the war against Stannis, and Cersei, his beloved twin sister, used wildfire to destroy the Sept of Baelor and everyone in it at the end of season 6. Thinking about it, wildfire is the most lethal mass destruction weapon in Westeros after dragons.

I think this time, Jaime will step up in the game – he will no longer be a bystander watching others conspiring or actually using wildfire, but he will actually initiate a plan to attack wights with wildfire himself. Not only will he be on the right side of history, fighting alongside Jon and Dany, but he will also use the one mean of mass destruction he is familiar with to destroy as many wights as possible, and for good! This way Dany will not have to risk Drogon and Rhaegal so early in the game. It is quite possible that we will see the army of the dead destroyed with just the Night King left to beat, and this is when the dragons will come to use.

Any thoughts?
