Jamie & Cersei’s Death
I’m not a fan of revenge, from a moral perspective, although I acknowledge that it’s a hell of a lot of fun to watch it play out. So when friends complained that Cersei didn’t die in a gruesome or poetic way, I understood … but here’s how I responded:
This episode was a juxtaposition of different characters and whether they would choose vengeance. We know what Dany chose. We know what The Hound chose. Arya decided differently (and I personally found this choice gratifying, from a moral perspective). This meant we had to watch Cersei get buried instead of dying at Arya’s hand. It might’ve been less satisfying (for us and especially Arya), but it was Arya’s choice … and I think she made the right one. The show let us, the viewers, get a little taste of her sacrifice – moral high ground, but no real closure.
Just my $0.02 on one of the arguments I’ve heard about this episode!
