Hi Guys, very much enjoying listening, raging at and mulling over your Lovecraft podcast discussions from the UK. But I still have many questions and thoughts. I know that these are subjects that are difficult for you to cover in depth, but as I said, I am enjoying your work and can see you’re trying to figure it out nonetheless. Don’t know if you’ve listened to any of the work the Dissect podcast has done in negotiating similar space, e.g. Lemonade and Damn? Unsure most of this email is suitable for air but anyways.I’ve listened to all your content up until tonights episode (6), and am enjoying the various companion episodes to this show. I was curious, as I’m just re listening to you talk about there are different spells that are attributed to different families and how Tic and Christina can’t work magic against each other, or can’t destroy each other directly as they are protected by the same spells. In the previous episode, you briefly talked about who was Tic’s father. If Uncle George was Tic’s father and the spells are only passed down the male line, then surely George shouldn’t have died? And no-one has been discussing why Montrose is the one who survives? Isn’t it a standard in traditional fantasy visuals that our hero, is destined to rescue the designated princess? The previous conversations around ‘snake dick’ made me laugh. Whilst I can’t disagree about the special effects, when you were stating you didn’t think Leti and Tic would get together, I was surprised, as I had been thinking precisely the opposite. In the scene, Leti didn’t seem initially afraid of Tic, just what his physicality and his penis was capable of. We find out why at the house party and her explanation to him. Also, it’s interesting to contrast the heritage of the Sons of Adam’s voyeurism, the interlayers of fascination with sexually objectifying black males (Tic), and the focus attention of us as the viewers. The idea that black on black interaction is viewed by these men as circus or lab worthy. How we mute our outrage at their voyeurism against how we think the snake should look as though that is more important. Especially now having seen Tic’s buttocks twice. I feel like Christina has cleverly hedged her bets for some reason. Leti didn’t survive until Tic’s spell resuscitated her, but why does Christina then go after her half sister Ruby? Is she using her allyship to destroy Ruby’s and Leti’s relationship and to further her own ambition. I saw your tweet about the Snakebite (with blackcurrant cordial we call it a Snakebite and black) I’m waiting for you to knock back a Mickey Mouse. Or, you could go for a Snakebite and Snot (don’t worry it’s just a lime cordial top rather than blackcurrant). Maybe you don’t have snot in the US – Snakebite and Bogey? I haven’t read the book, I won’t until this series has stopped airing – besides I’ve quite literally started reading Dune. Thanks for listening.
