MIB Shot on The Roof

Just a thought about how the man in black was just knocked out on the roof after being shot. I was thinking that the bullets were just some sort of projectiles to knock people/hosts out. I figure they are going into the city and they probably don’t want to kill the people that are under Charlores’ control so if they were to have gotten surrounded they could just knock them out with their weapons and not actually kill them? Or maybe show runners just didn’t really consider much behind this other than, “yeah we have to have the man in black get knocked out but not die” any thoughts?
