One of Many Westworld Theories

Have a Theory? Share It Now!

Hey guys, Love the cast and the conversation you all have about Westworld. I was close to sending this theory last week, but decided against it. After tonight’s episode, I feel like it’s a possibility. Anyways

Basically Arnold is the real version of Dr. Ford. He is the original creator, and Dr. Ford is the host version of himself that he created. That’s why he has more direct control of other hosts. But one thing he doesn’t have, are the answers. He is as lost as everyone else in Westworld. Ford, along with everyone else playing the maze, is just trying to understand the meaning/intentions of the creator, Arnold.

Just like Ford was using hosts as workers/slaves at the plantation. Why wouldn’t the creator’s use hosts as employees as well? Its free labor. Machines already build the bodies, why not have hosts do maintenance, and meta-exploration for consciousness. Essentially, everyone on screen is a host. They are what the writers of the show made to explore what it means to be conscious. They are a scripted exploration for the meaning of life, which I don’t think should OR can be answered. Its Abernathy’s answer he wasn’t supposed to know. Falling too far down the rabbit hole. Bridging/breaching or whatever they called it.

Also, hosts have a networked type consciousness. When that butcher was able to create/code the bird, it basically added a piece of consciousness to the AI network. That’s why Maeve is responsive right away. If you can code life, you are a creator.

We all need purpose. Ford, Bernard, Delores, and all the hosts are chasing the center of the maze, the meaning of it all, what Arnold’s intentions were.

Of course this is just a fun theory i have, and I don’t fully believe it will be true. Why would Delores reassure Arnold that she didn’t spill the beans to Ford? But I would love for you guys to poke holes and explore it a bit. Thanks again for the show. I’m off to listen to the instacast. – Ash
