I think you guys are missing that the photo of Arnold that Ford showed Bernard is a photo of Arnold, but Bernard couldn’t see him in the photo for the same reason he couldn’t see he door or his plans- because it would reveal him to be a host.

Look back at the photo seen- based on spacing the photo would appear to be of 3 people – Ford on the left, his dad host in the middle, and a blank spot on the right.

Since Bernard is a recreation of Arnold and he can’t see things that would help him determine he’s a host as Ford stated when he looked at the picture he didn’t see anything.
