Quick Hello and Life Update

Good morning Shat Hosts!

I’m not sure if you all remember me, but I was one of the regular emailers back in the American Gods and Taboo days (and I think Westworld season one). A lot of life events have happened for me in the past couple of years – I moved into my own apartment and graduated from college, lost a few family members (either to cancer or accidents), and even got a moderate case of COVID-19 along the way (I’m doing okay now, but it was rough for the past month). All through this crazy and exciting time I have been eagerly listening all the podcasts whenever I can because you all are just some of the most fantastic people to listen to. You’ve been such a great comfort to me throughout everything that’s happened, especially the last couple of weeks being ill, and I just wanted to reach out again to thank you all for everything you do and all the effort you put into the show.

I’m hoping to write in to the next telegraph after episode three airs, and (spoiler alert) since I see everyone is having a fun time with the political philosophy corner, it will be oriented around the connection between Westworld and Herbert Marcuse’s One-Dimensional Man.

I read Ashley’s dissertation, and it was absolutely fantastic. Hope that she and Gene will be looking forward to my Marcuse discussion!
