Sansa V Dany

Hey guys,

in the episode recap you were talking about that scene with Daenerys and Sansa at the 12:15 mark. Big D, you were saying how you weren’t big on the scene as it seemed unimportant in the bigger picture. I can see that entirely, however I think this is important as it shows us a smaller look into Daenerys as a queen and what she’d be like if she survives. It has been said before by some and I am in the camp that Daenerys wouldn’t be a good queen, I think this scene was meant to further sow those seeds possibly foreshadowing a possible Mad queen scenario or at the very least reasons why her death would be acceptable.

Looking at her history it’s hard to see why she wouldn’t be a bad queen. When she took Myreen and Slavers Bay she was a hero right? Yes! Khaleesi, burn them. That’s easy, because she’s freeing slaves. Good vs Bad. However look to how she ruled after. When the lines began to blur. She rejected the culture of Myreen and the people. After her conquest, the Master has begrudgingly accepted, no slaves, no more slavery. However she denied them the other cultural traditions literally because she did not like it. A true ruler can see the bigger picture and understand it’s not about them it’s about the people. By doing that there was rebellion that was so costly she had to open the fighting pits and by then it was too late, she had lost the people she had set out to save. There was all out civil war. Which she only won because she used dragons.

It’s sad because being a Targaryen you would think she’d have learned from her Ancestor Aegon. When Aegon conquered Westeros he took their traditions and customs, he made a sigil to show he was like them. When he defeated his enemies he didn’t kill them unless they refused. If they bent the knee they would rise with their honor intact and they’d still have their lands. Although it cost their crowns it was mercy. Also after he conquered the seven Kingdoms Aegon adopted the faith of Westeros and joined the Light of the Seven. Danny has shown she can’t do that.

This carries to Westeros and her feeling on the North. She doesn’t accept their culture and still sees them as part of her kingdom…queendom? You get it.

Anyway please keep up the good work. Great show.
