Season 2: Probably Another Planet

It’s Jordan! I haven’t abandoned you, just been busy and haven’t had more than one viewing of each episode this time around but the long weekend ahead will give plenty of time to piece together a coherent semblance of a theory. Either that or Tuesday morning they’ll find me huddled in the corner, surrounded by feces cave drawings on the walls. Just kidding but I have a couple quick points to try and get into the conversation this week before the next episode shoots to shit, which inevitably seems to happen.

First is pretty basic and not really plot but I don’t know if you’ve thought about the masked men in Delores’ band of merry men, but I feel like the only reason they’re wearing masks is so that in future episodes/seasons, the writers can introduce new actors for significant roles and say that “oh he/she was here all along, just wearing a mask”. Seems like an easy way to introduce a new face without people bitching about why we haven’t seen them before in the park.

Second, I’m kicking around the theory of ghost nation being a second line of defense for visitors in the park that isn’t connected to the mesh network or use the standard command set as the rest of the hosts. They’re simply programmed to detect guests in possible real trouble and get them out of a situation peacefully and hold them until real help can arrive. If they’re not on the same protocol as Delores it would make sense that she wouldn’t be able to control them.

Next I think the marble ford had Bernard smuggle out was so ford could import his own consciousness into it and truly become part of his own creation. I don’t think we’ll see Anthony Hopkins physically return, but if his consciousness is hooked into the network he could seemingly pop up in any controllable host at any time like he does with the Lawrence’s daughter and young ford.

I’m still not sold that Maeve is off loop. She cut Sizemore off right before he tells her what Maeve does at the train station at the end of season one. Her going back for her daughter could all be part of fords plan. I think her new ability to control hosts via Jedi mind trick is her using the mesh network instead of verbal commands. Maybe ford had a plan to try and change sizemores way of thinking and he’s using Maeve to make him understand fords way of thinking.
