Staring Us In The Face
Go back and watch season 2 episode one. It’s all right there. Bernarnold had a machine gun and is killing everyone. It is him taking out the initial military force in the map room.
It appears that after the explosion, Elsie will bing him back out of the cradle where he will rendezvous with Deloris and company and make off with Abernathy and for some reason leave Hale alive.
The important part though is back to the dream sequence with Delores. He says in his dream he awoke on the shore of a vast sea, he was not with them they had left him behind. He is in the shore of the sea, not the lake they are draining. I think Delores gets off the Island and leaves him behind to cover her tracks which is Fords plan.
Also, the door I think is a reference to the door William enters though and on to the train. (The same one Elsie and Bernard use to renter the Mesa). He had originally selected the white hat and that is where his journey began. So his conclusion to the game is to exit that door as a black hat, and return to his compassionate beginnings as a white hat.

I thought Bernard was killing everyone in the Map Room at first, but Episode 7 showed us he was killing two agents in the diagnostics hallway.
