Still Loved It, But Still Frustrated.

Dear Hosts,

Let me begin by thanking you for reading my email in your Small Council cast for the season premiere. In that email, I expressed how frustrated I was about how nobody was questioning Bran about his warnings and knowledge of the past.

While I am still frustrated with that aspect of the show, something much more realistic has me frustrated about this most recent episode: Jon’s treatment of Ghost. Or rather, Jon’s lack of treatment of Ghost. I can’t bring myself to accept that after all Jon and Ghost have been through together, especially since Ghost has saved Jon’s life on more than one occasion, that Jon couldn’t have at least walked over to pet and hug his furry friend for a possible final time before he left Winterfell. This might seem like a small gripe, and in the grand scheme of things it is, but as an animal lover (which I know the Shat hosts are as well), it’s strikes me as a moment of weak writing, and amnesia of who the characters are and what they mean to each other.

One other thing, Euron Greyjoy might be a vile scumbag, but he’s not an idiot. We know that Cersei is now fooling Euron into believing that the child she’s carrying, actually fathered by Jaime, belongs to him. So when Tyrion addressed Cersei, and brought up her unborn child, shouldn’t Euron have wondered how the hell Tyrion knew about the child that he and Cersei only recently conceived? While Tyrion was speaking, I was expecting to see a shot of Euron looking from Tyrion to Cersei with a confused, rage-filled look on his face. I’m sure Euron would not be pleased to know that Cersei is playing him.

Sorry, one other last thing. While we’re talking about that parlay scene, I was really hoping that Missandei would have just grabbed Cersei and jumped off the top of the wall. Cersei was arrogant enough to put her hand on Missandei to advise her to speak her final words, so that would have been the perfect opportunity, even with Missandei’s shackled wrists.

OK, that’s enough for now. My continued gratitude for all your efforts on reviewing and discussing the show.

Shat On,

Mike L.
