Hello Fellas,

First time long time, love the show, thank you for making my commutes bearable.

Anyway, few thoughts for you guys.

First, did the show just indirectly prove that Bernarnold never existed? If William is having such an unbelievably hard time placing Delos’ consciousness into a host body how has Bernarnold functioned so well? Does this lend credence to the thought that Bernarnold never existed? He’s been functioning perfectly for something like 30 years, whereas Delos couldn’t make it 35 days. Unless Ford was holding out on some major technology from William, there is just no way that Bernarnold could have survived this long.

Second, and this one needs a bit of a tinfoil hat, I believe that there are two versions of William. The first is the one we see outside of the park and the one that interacts with Delos in the chamber. The second version of William is the one we see in the park. The second version is William’s consciousness in a host body. What could be a more perfect way for William to show his board members that
Eterna-lyfe ™ is possible then putting his own consciousness into a host body? It’s like those doctors that inject themselves with the disease in order to find a cure. Lawrence’s daughter tells what I am now calling second William to not look forward and I believe what she is telling him is to look inward. They need him to figure out for himself that he is a copy of himself in order to not have the same malfunction that Delos has consistently been experiencing.
Additionally, in the first episode, you see William talking with Dolores “behind the curtain” of the park. As you mentioned on the podcast, would someone so obsessed with finding the true meaning of the park within the park want to see the inner workings? No, of course not. In the first season, we were told that William’s wife committed suicide because William was spending too much time in the park and we all assumed it meant as a guest in the park. This doesn’t match the narrative of this season. First season, it seemed that he was only there to enjoy the park itself and didn’t care about the profitability of it. Second season, it’s become clear that William has always had an ulterior motive. So, could it have been that William’s wife committed suicide because he was spending too much time in the park attempting to perfect the Nevah-die ™? Also, in all of the scenes with William One (both young and old), we see him with significantly more facial hair than William Two. Seriously, how long does it take for William Two to grow a five o clock shadow? Finally, why would Ford invest so much time in a human William? Ford had proved time and again that he cared more for the hosts than humans. Just as he wanted Dolores to succeed in her awakening, he wants William Two to do the same. This all leads to my thoughts that there are two Williams, one host and one real.

Third, here’s just a conceptual problem I have with the park itself. Let’s say you spend $40,000 a night (or whatever it was) to come to the park. I’m sure at minimum 50% is due at booking, with a minimum nights stay. Your buddy William has been going on and on about some host named Dolores. You arrive on the train to the park only to find that Dolores is already off on another adventure with another guest. This has to be a nightmare for Westworld’s guest relations. Not to mention this would absolutely run Delos Corp into problems with the FCC for false advertising. You are promised to have every desire fulfilled. So, does this unavoidable logistical nightmare create the necessity for multiple hosts? (Also, I’m aware that most hosts are normally on a 24 hour loop, but what about the occasions where William takes Dolores on a 7 day cross park train ride?). The upcoming scenes for next week already show redundancies in the story between parks, so why wouldn’t the park also create redundancies in the hosts? Also, wouldn’t this make sense from a restoration and cleaning perspective? Instead of having to clean the hosts in a 2 hr period overnight, the park workers just grab another version of the host from a flash freezer in the basement. Additionally, multiple hosts would have prevented the Maeve awakening from ever happening. This park is just not run well, no wonder its been bleeding money.

This email is so so long. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize how long it was until I stopped typing just now. I hope something in here is worth something.

Please keep up the good work.

Russ
