The Music Discussion

This discussion always cracks me up.
I personally enjoyed the music for a few reasons. I did like that you pointed out in the beginning of the show you heard less modern music but as the hosts transformation became more and more heightened a more modern approach of music was taken. Maeve almost literally made this pronouncement by going into the salon once she was “aware” and shutting the piano. Next thing we see musically she’s walking to ” Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse. It was powerful in a subtle way and I think that’s the push and give of music in any type of TV now a days. It’s also subjective so I understand Big D. wanting something subjective to the theme of the park by again I think we are making assumptions on who exactly and what culture exactly is lured to the park. That piano is like a radio; maybe in the morning it’s disco, afternoon it’s rap, and the evening it’s rock. I struggle thinking that any industry would not create a scope of music in which to listen when first visiting the park. The Salon seems to be the main square so that means it needs to entice to a broader audience.

The old versus the new is a nice subtle musical story all on its own that though can take one out of the moment is also reflecting the story playing out between hosts and humans. Again, I’ve correlated it mostly with Maeve’s transition because that’s where often we hear the piano playing. She’s the future, she’s the more modern approach whereas say Deloros is more old west and thus all music around her seemed more in tone with the times.

I’ll have to do more watching so thanks for giving me a reason !
