The New Park Is Needed To Comparecontrast
I listened to your Instacast and agree about the mystery involved. I love a good mystery and Westworld is that, and has been since episode 1. That it’s a mystery trapped/wrapped in a carefully crafted sci-fi world is what keeps me coming back. I always want to see what will happen next. I trust the showrunners know where the narrative ends.
The return to a theme park was necessary to move the plot forward. We’ve been shown a new park has been in the works and its purpose is sinister. We have to visit the park to investigate. The updated copies of the original characters in their original roles might be “fan service” (a term that makes me cringe), but necessary for an apples-to-apples comparison between the old tech, Maeve in particular, and the new upgrades and how the two interact. It allows us to get somewhat inside the mind behind the park and the motives. Creating all new characters would be inefficient and since Halores is the one actually running the show, you go with what you know. One thing I don’t know is if the people who shot themselves in the R&D lab were hosts or humans. Maeve didn’t think they were hosts, but Fake Frankie certainly was.
Thanks for all you do. I was wondering if you were still going to around. It’s been a long exposition.
