Gentlemen,

As a new listener I’d like to thank you for your refreshingly intellectual approach to your watchmen podcast. And as a teacher of theology, philosophy and religious studies, here in the U.K. I’d like to add my own insight into the mysterious tomato tree.

In the Second creation account within the bible (Genesis 2) the tree of knowledge of good and evil’s fruit is never actually identified. Many of have identified it as an apple, but this has more to do with its Latin name and precious little to do with Hebrew. Some, however, have speculated that the forbidden fruit was actually a tomato. Therefore by eating and crushing the fruit, Veidt, is showing his contempt for God. Could this Also be alluding to the oversight of a god like presence (such as Dr Manhattan?). My money is also on a Martian prison (hence the spacesuit and the frozen body).

Perhaps you are already aware of this particular insight, but if not I thought you’d find it illuminating.

Keep up the good work , chaps.

Cheers,

Richard
